The day has finally arrived to share my results for the week with you. Honestly, I humbly expected a rebound gain. Well, the digital scale tipped in my favor this morning. Last Monday, I weighed in at 202.2 lbs. (achieving a four pound loss) for the first week of this challenge. I can proudly say I weighed in at 200.8 lbs. – bringing my total loss to 5.4 lbs.
Again, I do not want to dwell on the scale. In fact, I have achieved more than just a couple of lost pounds. My stamina and distance on the treadmill have increased exponentially. At the beginning of this challenge, I was averaging a moderate, walk/jog 14 minute mile. As of this morning, I can run (yes run) three miles in 35 minutes, for an average of 11:40 per mile.
In addition, I am able to wear a pair of jeans I had given up on. I never thought I would fit myself into a 33″ waist, but then again I never thought I would fall in love again either. In case I haven’t mentioned it lately, Mikey has been amazing! He supports me. He cares for me. He is the true reward at the end of this challenge. I have always had him, but I appreciate him more and more everyday. He is my partner for the rest of our time on this planet. And hopefully, beyond this existence.
A massive part of my ability to achieve these results is the music of Kelly Clarkson. She is a true artist and motivator. Her catalog of music has the ability to hit every emotional high and low. If I need to turn up the heat, I choose a track like “My Life Would Suck Without You”. But if I need to cool down or find some prospective, “Walk Away” or “Never Enough” fills the emotional and physical void.
I wish I could tell her how much she inspires me to a better man. Her spirit, her kindness, and her love of family and friends motivates me to be more mindful of the world – to be more loving with those who create the circle of my life. I wish a lot of things.
