The Meaning Of Life

Bible Study with Big John Tracy

Volume 1-3 Genesis 1 – Days 5 and 6

20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the  firmament of the heavens.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

On Day 5, God created all of the sea creatures and all of the birds, and He told them to be “fruitful and multiply”. Why would God talk to the birds and the fish, is it possible they, as God’s creatures also, understood him?

And again, it is repeated; the evening and the morning were the fifth day, night before day.

24 Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of the earth, each according to its kind”; and it was so. 25 And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.

“Let the earth bring forth”…I believe God created the land animals just as he did man, from the soil of the earth, and like man, when animals die, they go from dust to dust.

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over [g]all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

“Let Us” make man in “Our” image…why would God use plural terms such as “us” and “our” unless he was not alone, unless Jesus and the Spirit was with him? To me, this is further confirmation of the Trinity, the Godhead.

29 And God said, “See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food. 30 Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food”; and it was so. 31 Then God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good. So the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

I believe it was God’s intention that we be vegetarians, not necessarily vegans, but I don’t believe the initial intent was for us to be meat eaters. and even more, he intended for the animals of the earth to be herbivores. I’ve always heard that in Heaven, the lions will lay down and eat hay with the lambs, and I believe that was the way God designed the world to be initially.

And make note that at the end of every day, God saw that what He did was “good”. This was all before evil entered our world. When people see and experience tragedy, like natural disasters, and ask, “Why does God allow this?” or even worse, “Why did God cause this?”, God’s intent was totally to make a perfect world with perfect animals and perfect people, but that was all ruined when the first sin was committed. When that first sin was committed, Satan gained a little control over us, and gradually great control over us, and the more control he has, the worse our world becomes. So in was and is our sinful nature that causes disasters to happen, not God.

Can you imagine His disappointment and heartache when the first sin was committed? Although I believe He knew it was going to happen because God is all-knowing, He still had to be disappointed that he had just created this perfect world, and we messed it all up.

A lot of people do not believe in creation, but I personally do not see it any other way. Trees produce oxygen that we need to live, and we exhale carbon dioxide that trees need to live. How could that possibly have evolved by chance? God told Moses that all males had to be circumcised of their foreskin on their 8th day of life. Did you know that scientists have shown that platelets and other natural blood clotting agents are at their highest level when a child reaches 8 days old, then slowly starts to drop after that? What is the coincidence that on the day of life when clotting is most efficient, God instructs Moses to circumcise the male children?

God is so amazing. The more you study, the more you learn and the more you realize that none of creation is by accident, that God knew exactly what he was doing in order to create a perfect world.

Praise God!
