The Meaning Of Life

Bible Study with Big John Tracy

Volume 1-26, Job 6 and 7

In these two books, Job answers Eliphaz as well as praying to God. And wow, you really have to concentrate. You have to read, and re-read, and study each word closely to even come close to understanding. Or perhaps it is just me; maybe it is just difficult for my simple mind to comprehend.

It starts off with Job basically wishing God would put an end to his misery, basically through death. He is in such heavy grief and such intense pain from his sores, that he had pretty much given up all hope.

He is then critical of Eliphaz, expecting him to be supportive and kind rather than offering criticism.

And finally, Job prays to God, asking why he is being punished as he is, to tell him what his sins were, what his inequity was.

For this, I am not going to post the entire text of the chapter since I really don’t have any verse by verse comments. You can read Job 6 yourself by clicking the link below.

In Job 7, Job continues to pray, asking God why he is being treated this way. And here is the link to Job 7.

So what do I take away from these two chapters? First, we should have faith that God is a very just God, and if you feel you are being punished for something you didn’t deserve, simply have faith. None of us are perfect, void of sin. We are born of sin, and continue to sin throughout our lives. Personally, I don’t believe that God punishes anyone, He gives us freewill to live the lives we have; if we are disobedient, God may withdraw His protection and let the cards fall where they may. After all, God has a design law, and if we separate ourselves from that law, we separate ourselves from God, and God is life.

And there may be times that God allows us to face trouble so we become stronger for the future. It is not easy resisting temptation, but if we face problems and persevere through them, we become stronger and have better protection from them in the future.

And as we will see in the future, not trying to get ahead of ourselves, but God rewards Job for his faithfullness in the end, much greater than he had life before.

But feel free to come to your own conclusion. I only suggest you pray to God for understanding and allow Him to guy you through these chapters.

And tomorrow, we’ll persevere through more of the Book of Job.
