The Meaning Of Life

Bible Study with Big John Tracy

Volume 1-29, Job 11

Is it better that your friends wholly and unconditionally support you in your dismay, whatever that may be, or is it better that your friends be truthful, no matter how bad the truth hurts, to honestly assess your problem and offer you help?

I would suppose that would depend on the person receiving the help. And at first, Jobs friends just sat with him, in silence, for an entire week, to solace and comfort him, but now, now they are offering advise, and it’s no holes barred.

Now it’s time for Zophar to speak, and in my opinion, he is worse than Eliphaz and Bildad, even suggesting that whatever Job inequity is, his punishment is likely not enough, that he got off easy.

I’ve said before, Job was a sinner, everyone is, the only person on earth who never sinned was Christ. But Job was very, very righteous, even so far as sacrificing for the possible sins of his children. Job didn’t know the extent to which his children sinned, he simply sacrificed to the Lord on their behalf, just in case. Now that’s righteousness.

Read and study the Book of Job, Chapter 11 here. And don’t forget to pray for understanding and wisdom.

Father, we thank you for another day of life, another day of Your Creation. And Lord, we thank you for Your Word, the Book of Life, that tells us how we should live in order to love our neighbor as ourself. Amen.
