And we come to the end of the Book of Job, and I am still lost. Don’t get me wrong, I understand individual verses, but for the life of me I cannot make them fit in with the others. I pray that someday, I will read Job yet again, and understanding will come to me.

But I don’t feel too awfully bad. because in Job 42: 3, Job says, Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,”. Me too Job, me too. I didn’t understand what you uttered either.

And herein lies the importance of reading the Bible for yourself, praying for understanding, then being comfortable with your understanding. Too, too many people go to church, and whatever their Pastor tells them, they believe. There was a time with the Roman Government, the Roman Catholics, refused to give people copies of the Bible saying, “We’ll tell you what you need to know.” If you go to church and believe everything the Pastor says without reading your Bible, you’re basically the same as the people in the dark ages.

One of the reasons I say this is I’ve always heard the Job was righteous, that Job went through his turmoil without flaw, that Job had “patience” when is came to waiting for God to heal him. Yet, my understanding of the Book of Job doesn’t always match that, in fact, there’s times I think Job is arrogant, and that he does blame God for some of his plight. In fact, in the New King James Version of Chapter 42 of the Book of Job, the title of the first section is “Job’s Repentance and Restoration”. If Job was without fault through all of this, why would he need to repent?

God goes on the scold Job’s friends, then at the end, he restores everything that Job lost.

I still don’t understand it all, maybe I never will. But at this moment, my take is that we are going to go through hard times throughout our life. Most of those hard times are created by Satan, or are created by ourselves at the temptation of Satan, and instead of running towards God, we turned our back on him.

If during those hard times, you turn to God, your life will be much, much better. And don’t wait for hard times to turn to God…turn to him today, and I guarantee that most, but not all, most of your hard times will be avoided.

God bless you all, and Praise God that I made it through another head hurting read about Job. Amen!

Now, we get to turn back to one of my favorite books of the Bible, the Book of Genesis. And just a reminder, the reason we interrupted Genesis to begin with is because we’re studying the Bible chronologically, and Job’s life was concurrent with some of the times in the Book of Genesis.
