In Genesis 20, Abraham and Sarah move to an area called Gerar, where they meet their king, King Abimelech. And it is almost a repeat of their trip to Egypt; Abraham tells Abimelech that Sarah is his sister, Abimelech takes her, but before he can do anything, the Bible says “God stopped him”.
God came to Abimelech in a dream, and told him the Sarah was really Abraham’s wife. Has God ever stopped you from doing something bad. I call it “conviction”, I’ll be trying so hard to be a good Christian, for example, something on social media makes me angry, and I’ll type in an angry response. And just before I press the send button, something in my head suddenly takes over and says, “That wouldn’t be very Christian like, now wood it?” And I’ll be really fired up, but this prompt in my brain says, “Don’t do it”, so I erase my comment and scroll on. That’s God stopping me from doing something stupid. It has taken a while, but I finally recognize the voice.
