The word “Genesis” is defined as “The coming into being of something; the origin.” A fitting word to describe our origin. And this blog, titled “The Meaning of Life” was named such because the true meaning of life is found within God’s Word.
Ever since Darwin came up with his theory of Evolution, which in my opinion, was the work of Satan trying to draw people away from God, certain people believe that we evolved from nothing. But I don’t believe that that is possible. So far, scientists have yet to be able to produce something out of nothing in the laboratory or even in nature itself.
And there is a great battle going on in this world and has been for over 6,000 years, the battle between Christ and Satan. It started at Creation, when God created the most perfect world with two perfect human beings in it, and even back then, with a World Population of just “2”, Satan began is work if trying to draw Adam and Eve away from God by telling the first lie, “Sure you will not die.”
God created, it’s as simple as that. And regardless of theories about about “Big Bang” or a fish crawling out of the water on two feet, or whatever story is created, “I don’t have enough faith to not have faith”. Not my quote, but it is something I truly believe in. Some people say they don’t have “faith” in Christ; I don’t have enough faith to be a non-believer.
From the start, we are told of the Trinity. Moses wrote the word of God, “Let Us make man in Our own image…if there was just one God, why were plural terms used. The Spirit of God hovered over the waters. And the Apostle John wrote, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. “The Word” being Jesus Christ.
So, we have the Trinity, also known as a form of a Godhead, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and Genesis 1 details the account of creation.
It is my opinion that God was creating a “Heaven on Earth”. The world was perfect. It was lush with trees, and vegetation, and herbs and fruits. There were no storms, no dark skies, no wind or lightning, instead, a “mist” came up out of the ground and watered the earth.
And scientists have discovered “fern” fossils in the Arctic Circle. Explain how a fern can grow in that cold environment. It grew because at one time, the earth, before sin, had an even temperature, was always sunny, always pleasant, that is until man sinned.
And we can assume that God spoke to Adam and provided him with some moral laws, most likely the ten commandments before the official ten commandments were handed down. Otherwise, how would Cain have known it was a sin to kill his brother Abel? If no laws had been passed down, when God asked Cain where his brother was, why didn’t Cain say, “Oh, I killed him yesterday.” Cain tried to hide the truth because he knew it was wrong to murder; he had already been taught by his Earthly father, Adam, “Thou shalt not kill.”
So God created the most perfect world for us to live in because He loved us so much. And He loved us so much that He gave us free-will to choose between good and evil. And while we had no idea what “evil” was, that serpent named Satan told Eve a lie, and her faith was not strong enough to detect his lie, and she fell for it. God could have stopped it. God could have killed Satan and saved the entire world. But what would God”s angels have thought about Him? Would they have seen their loving and merciful Father and now a cold blooded killer? And that is why we have so much trouble today, is because God cannot eliminate evil…it is not within His being. God is love personified, and true love cannot kill.
So what about the great flood? Didn’t God kill all of the wicked people in the flood? No, they basically killed themselves by being non-believers. Had they believed, had they had faith in God, they would have been aboard that Ark when it started raining. God brought the rain, God gave them free will to save themselves or not, and they chose not.
Is part of The Meaning of Life to have faith in God and follow his commands? I believe so.
We read the story of the faith that Abraham had and that Sarah did not. We’ve read stories of lies, and hatred, and betrayal. And there are just as many stories in the Bible about how we shouldn’t live our lives as there are stories about how we should live our lives.
Much of what we need to know about life, and it’s meaning, can be found in the Book of Genesis. But we are a “hard hearted” people, so the story must go on to provide us with more examples of The Meaning of Life.
Praise God for His Creation! If it weren’t for His Creation, “His” meaning the Trinity, we would not be here. We would not have had the opportunity to live.
Father, thank you for Your creation. Thank You for creating me and giving me the opportunity to live my life and enjoy my life and to love and to learn. Forgive me of my sins because You know I have surely stumbled along the way; and I still stumble today. Please lead me in what life I have left to show me how I can help fulfill Your Will. Your Will is perfect, it was just ruined by the weakness of man. We love You, we praise You, and we worship You. Amen!
