One of the Hebrew slaves, a woman from the tribe of Levi (on of Jacob’s sons), gave birth to a male child, and because Pharaoh had given the order to kill all male Hebrew infants born, she hid him for three months. And when she could hide him no more, she made an ark (a basket) and covered it with tar to make it waterproof, and she hid it in the reeds along the Nile. Then the boy’s sister hid and watched to see what would become of him.

Pharaoh’s daughter was bathing in the Nile, and saw the baby, she had compassion for it, and she took it as her own, naming him Moses. Then they found the boys mother, and paid her to nurse him.

Now if you’ve watched the movie “The Ten Commandments”, and epic and entertaining film, you also need to read the Biblical account, because it is much different and it is the truth, not have been embellished for entertainment purposes.

The Bible does not mention how Moses came to find he was Hebrew and not an Egyptian son of Pharaohs daughter, but one day when he was walking among the slaves, he saw an Egyptian guard beating a Hebrew slave, so Moses killed the guard.

Fearing he would get caught, Moses fled to the land of Midian, and there he found seven daughters of the Priest of Midian who were attempting to water their flock, but the shepherds sent them away, so Moses jumped in to help them. And when their father heard of this, he sent for Moses to give him a meal. And Moses took the eldest daughter to be his wife, and she bore him a son.

And the Hebrew slaves prayed to God, and God heard their prayers and took pity on them.

Why didn’t God do this sooner? Do you think they ignored God, failed to worship God, maybe even cursed God? They were in bondage for 400 years, I am certain that Satan was working hard to separate them from God, planting the same thoughts in their head that I heard today, “Where is your God? Why are you still slaves if your God is loving?

And that is how we end up separating ourselves from God, but Satan causes us to sin more, to hate our lives more, and to blame God for our problems. All we have to do is turn to God, trust Him, love Him, have a relationship with Him.

Pray to God for our sins and shortcomings. Amen.

And why do you think all of this transpired? God had a plan to free the Hebrews and take them back to the land He was giving them. Do you suppose all of this was God’s Will? I highly doubt all of these things were simply coincidence.

God’s Will is good. God’s Will is what is best for us. And God’s Will, will be done.
