Here is one of many parts of the Bible that are difficult to read, like many of the chapters that list the genealogy of various Biblical characters. And I admit, I have no idea what some of this means, but I have faith in the Lord that it was included in the Bible for a purpose. For example, in the New Testament, the genealogy of Jesus Christ is listened, and that is extremely important so that we know where Jesus came from, that He was indeed an actual man that walked the Earth, and not some “fairy tale” character that many non-believers describe.
And in this chapter, God gives Moses instructions on how to build a sanctuary, a portable sanctuary the Levites can carry from camp to camp. And when I say it is in great detail, that is exactly what I mean.
There are many representations drawn about the sanctuary, the Holy Place, the Most Holy place, where the Table of Showbread was located, this can be found on the internet. Of course it is an interpretation of man, but in this case I concede that you likely cannot be led astray by this. When it comes to the actual interpretation of God’s instruction is where I have difficulty accepting. There are over 40,000 different Christian denominations in the Bible, which ones are true, which ones aren’t? And that is why we read the Bible for ourselves, and pray for the Spirit of God lead us, giving us knowledge and wisdom.
Again I say, I don’t believe this is all a test. I do not believe that our loving and merciful God will make the Bible so difficult to understand that we fail. So, read this chapter, despite how complicated it is. Read it and re-read it until its purpose comes to light. I confess, I haven’t gotten to that point yet myself, but I refuse to give up.

This chapter is further descriptions of how to construct the sanctuary and its contents including the Altar of Burnt Offerings, the Court of the Tabernacle, and care of the Lampstand.
One possible meaning of these detailed descriptions may to be to impress upon us how Holy God is, and how we should remain reverent to Him. It may be that He wants us to be respectful of Him when we are in worship, not to take it lightly, not to be so dismissive of it so easily.
And while I don’t believe God wants us to be so rigid and fearful of Him, He does want us to be respectful of Him and honor Him. For example, God instructed Moses that, before bringing the children of Israel to the Mountain, that he wanted them to bathe and wash their clothing so that they sanctified themselves.
Read the scriptures, pray for guidance, and reach your own conclusions. The only thing I would suggest is that you err on the side of safety. Do not compromise God’s Word. Do not take the easy path. God is our creator and He wants what is best for us.
For example, and I’ve covered this already, the Bible says males should be circumcised on Day 8 of their life. At face value, we may think this is just another “rule” in which we are required to follow to “obey” God, when in fact, science has found that when a child is 8 days old, the clotting agent in their blood is at its highest it will ever be in life. The 8 day circumcision instruction isn’t just another senseless rule, God knows that to minimize the bleeding of circumcision, it should be done when the child is on his eighth day of life.
Every rule that God lays out is for our own good. He is not a tyrant, He is our Father, and He loves us very much.
