Volume 2-21, Exodus 31

I know this will be a controversial subject, but it is Biblical.

12And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 13“Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies[b] you. 14You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who [c]profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. 17It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’

Many people say that a Saturday Sabbath (seventh-day Sabbath), was for the Jews only, while others will say the day was changed to observe the resurrection of Jesus. The Sabbath was actually changed by Constantine in the 4th or 6th Century because he was unable to defeat the Jews, so he thought he would come together with them, and many were convinced to change to the days of worshipping the sun, Sunday.

But the scripture clearly says, “MY Sabbath”, not the “Jews Sabbath”, it is God’s Sabbath, the seventh day in which He rested from His creation. And the Jews, and some Christian faiths that still observe it today, including Seventh Day Baptists, Seventh Day Adventists, and others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJJYILfupI0

The human race never lost the septenary [seven day] sequence of week days and that the Sabbath of these latter times comes down to us from Adam, though the ages, without a single lapse.”—Dr. Totten, professor of astronomy at Yale University.

These are words out of the mouth of a Methodist pastor.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7lhfOpvJ7Y

I am a former Seventh Day Adventist, but I still observe a Saturday Sabbath because it is Biblical. Even in Jesus’ time, Saturday was the Sabbath. Most believe that Jesus was crucified on Friday (Good Friday), some believe it was Wednesday, and I’m leaning towards Thursday because the Bible talks about after Jesus was crucified, the sun had set (marking the beginning of Friday) and the women that had followed Jesus were hurried because it was “Preparation Day” Today, the Jews still observe Friday as “Preparation Day”, a day in which they get everything in order for the Sabbath so they can rest and worship on Saturday, the Sabbath. Jews prepared their meals for the Sabbath on Friday so they don’t even have to cook on the Sabbath, which is in reference to gathering enough manna on Friday to last through Saturday, the Sabbath. Mark 15-41These women had followed Jesus and ministered to Him while He was in Galilee, and there were many other women who had come up to Jerusalem with Him. 42Now it was already evening. Since it was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath)

So even Jesus rested in His tomb on Saturday, the Sabbath. To me it is perfectly clear. Jesus could have risen from the grave at first light on Friday, He could have risen from the grave on Saturday, but He chose to rise on Sunday, after resting on the Sabbath.

And this won’t be the last time we approach this subject, because the Ten Commandments will be studied in the future. And please, if anyone can show me scripture that shows the Sabbath Day was changed, please let me know. My mind is still open as well.

Lord, I continue to pray for understanding and knowledge. I pray that you send Your Spirit to me as I study Your Word so my eyes are opened and I can see the truth. – Amen.
