Volume 2-23, Exodus 33-34

God is still angry with the sins committed by the children of Israel while Moses was on the mountain. And God told Moses to pack up and leave Mount Sinai, and travel to the land He promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

But God says He will not go with them or else His presence will consume them because they were stubborn. Yet, God said he would send His Angel before them, and once again, the word “Angel” is capitalized, meaning it Holy, just like the words “He, Him, My” which are all capitalized when referring to God. This indicates to me that the Angel was Jesus, and allow me to reiterate, Jesus is not an angel, but He is in charge of the angels, the Archangel.

At their first stop, Moses set up the tent for the Tabernacle of Meeting away from the camp, and when Moses would go in, the pillar of God would descend on the tent and Moses would talk with God. And Moses, in a nutshell, asked God for forgiveness, and said that if the Lord would go with them, it was a sign they were forgiven. And the Lord told Moses that He would go with them. Correction: This is why you can’t just read the Bible only once. Now that I have moved on to the next chapter, I realize that Moses set up his own tent, the Tabernacle of Meeting had yet to be constructed. See how easy it is to misread something?

God commanded Moses to make new tablets of stone, because Moses threw the fist stables down and broke them when he saw the Israelites worshipping the golden calf.

And Moses did, and once again, He went up to Mount Sinai, 40 days and 40 nights, and God renewed His covenant with them.

I do not know what the significance of the number 40 is, I haven’t figured it out yet. Bur, when the earth flooded, it rained 40 days and nights. The first time Moses went to the mount, he was on the mountain for 40 days. Now, he is on the mountain once again for 40 days and nights, fasting and not drinking the entire time. later, we’ll see that Jesus was in the wilderness 40 days, resisting the temptations of Satan.

There is too much coincidence that the number 40 appears so often, and I’m sure someone can tell me, but it will be the opinion of man and not an explanation in the Bible.

When Moses came down from the mountain this time, his face was shining so brightly that the people could not look at him, it was too bright for them to look at and they were too scared. So Moses had to wear a veil over his face when he was around the people, but he took the veil off when he went into the Tabernacle of Meeting.

What happened to Moses’ face? Why couldn’t the people look at him? Moses still had not seen God’s face, the last time they met, God put Moses in the cleft of a rock and covered him with His hand as he passed by.

Personally, I believe the Glory of God is so bright that just being in His presence made Moses’ face shine. How bright does one have to be, bright with rightiousness. And Moses was a man of God. Imagine what the righteous Glory of God would do to a sinner, it would likely consume them, wouldn’t it?
