| Numbers 23:19 “God is not man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?” Malachi 3:6 declares, “Because I, the LORD, do not change, you descendants of Jacob have not been destroyed.” James 1:17 adds, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or shifting shadow.” |
God does not change. Scripture is clear. However I see Christians (in print) all of the time saying the Ten Commandments were “nailed to the cross” and are no longer valid. How can this be if God doesn’t change? To me, the Ten Commandments are still very, very valid.
I apologize if you tire of hearing this, but it is something I whole-heartedly believe in. Jesus was a Jew, and the steadfast Jews of today still observe a seventh day (Saturday) Sabbath. I’m not Jewish, but I observed a seventh-day Sabbath because it is Biblical.
I think it’s great if you want to worship on Sunday to observe the resurrection of Christ. But I also think it’s fine to worship on Monday, or Tuesday, or any other day of the week. But regardless of how much you worship, you should still keep the Sabbath Day Holy.
And the beginning of this chapter, our unchanging God reinforces the rules of the Sabbath. Do not misunderstand me, I’m not here to criticize, I’m not here to judge, I’m here to share what I believe to be the truth. Up until 300-something AD, Jews and Christians alike observed a Saturday Sabbath. It was Constantine who changed it from Saturday to Sunday in an attempt to gain control over the Christians who were multiplying and increasing in number.
The rest of the chapter, God calls on the children of Israel to give offerings of their gold, silver, and fine linens to be used to built the Tabernacle. And he called upon all the talented artisans among the children to perform the work.
