This chapter contains more instructions about care of the Tabernacle, then it talks about the penalty for blasphemy.
It know what you’re going to say…I thought you said God wasn’t a punisher, he just ordered someone stoned to death.
I wish I had an answer for that. but I don’t. Some things you’ll just have to wait for an explanation when you get to Heaven. I just keep in mind…”If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father.” And I know Jesus didn’t and wouldn’t have stoned anyone. Remember, He stopped Peter from killing one of the guards that came to arrest Him. That said, I know the verbiage that’s in the Bible, but there has to be a logical explanation.
Two main points you should pay close attention to in Chapter 25.
The Lord commanded that the land also have a Sabbath rest, every seven years. The land can be worked for six years, but on the seventh year, nothing should be planted to allow the ground to rest.
Even in todays times, farmers know that letting the land rest allows it to get nutrients back into the ground. Most of the time, the land can remain idle, growing grass on it that can then be plowed under where it composts and fertilizing the ground. Some farmers plant grasses like alfalfa, or crops like turnips that are high in nitrates, then plow it under before planting.
Today, we used man made fertilizers to fertilizer the ground so we can grow crop year, after year, after year.
The other part if the reward for being obedient. The Bible says…
18You are to keep My statutes and carefully observe My judgments, so that you may dwell securely in the land. 19Then the land will yield its fruit, so that you can eat your fill and dwell in safety in the land.
People simply do not realize how blessed their lives would be if they followed the Will of God. It you do what you wish, what makes you feel good, then you will reap what you sew. But if you are obedient, your blessings will multiply.
I had turned away from God for many, many decades. And my wife and I lived payday to payday. When I made my mind up to try to be a good Christian, I told my wife that I wanted to start tithing, 10% of my gross income. She was against it; she was confident that we would have to sacrifice a lot of the things we did for fun, like eating out, shopping for extra things (that we didn’t need anyway). I told her I was willing to give those things up for the Lord.
Do you know, that I did not miss that money for one second, and in fact, it was just the opposite. It seemed to me that I had more money than ever. Even though I was giving the Lord the top dollar of every ten. And even though I did not change my lifestyle on bit, suddenly I was no longer living payday to payday. The Lord blessed me abundantly for my willingness to obey him.
And God will. Be obedient to him, not out of fear of repercussion, but rather because you love him, and I can guarantee you will be blessed. Will life be perfect? Not a chance. Will it be better than it is now? Most certainly.
