Chapter 33 is titled, “The Final Blessing of Moses”, and it is exactly what it says, Moses blesses the children one last time before his death.
He goes through each tribe, blessing them individually.
Chapter 34 brings to an end the Book of Deuteronomy. Moses ascends to the top of the mountains, and one last time, God showed him the Promised Land, then Moses died, and God himself buried him. 6And He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Peor; but no one knows his grave to this day.
Now, this will come as a big shock, but I do not believe that when you die, you go to Heaven or Hell (in fact, I do not believe in Hell at all, at least the “Hell” that has now been preached for centuries, but we will cover that later. I believe that when we die, we simply go to “sleep” in our graves, and if we are righteous in God’s eyes, we will be resurrected at the second coming of Jesus, and at that time, we ascend into Heaven. There are several reasons I say this, first and foremost because it is Biblical. But, common belief is that we ascend into Heaven upon death. The Bible says that when you die, there will be no more sickness, no more grief, no more tears. Can you imagine dying, going to Heaven, then having to “look down” on your family and see the troubles they face without having the ability to do anything about it? Imagine you die and go to Heaven, and as you look down on your family, you watch as one of your children are critically injured in a car accident. Or one of your children are diagnosed with cancer, and they end up long-suffering until their death. Would you not be sad? Would you not cry? But the Bible says there will be no more sadness, no more tears, so how can that be.
When you went to bed last night, do you remember the exact moment you fell asleep? Do you remember the exact time? None of us do, when we go to sleep, we simply fall asleep when the time comes. And when we wake up the next morning, we have been asleep for several hours, but to us, it seems like seconds. To me, that is what death is. We lose consciousness as we fall into the sleep of death, “we know nothing” as the Bible says, then our next waking moment, our next conscious thought, is when Christ returns and resurrects us from the grave. Would that not seem like you had just died and went to Heaven?
Sorry, I just can’t imagine going to Heaven and watching our family on earth suffer. If we do go to Heaven immediately upon death, then we surely don’t have the ability to “look down on” or “watch over” our families. Heaven would not be a happy and joyous place if we were there and had to suffer, watching our family face the troubles of earth.
Of course the Bible talks about many who have went to Heaven. Enoch, for example; the Bible says that “God took him”. Later we learn where a “fiery chariot comes down and take Elijah to Heaven. And the reason I am even talking about this subject, is because Jewish history, not the Bible, but Jewish history teaches that Moses was in his grave for three days, just like Christ, then he was resurrected and taken to Heaven. And you have to remember, Moses was a true man of God…except for that one time where he struck the rock instead of speaking to it, and took the credit for producing water from the rock, Moses was pretty much a righteous man, following and obedient to God. Yes, Moses killed the Egyptian guard, but he had been raised as an Egyptian and had that mindset at the time..in fact, I’m not even sure he knew about the “God of Abraham” except from the talk and mutterings of the Hebrews.
So Moses died on the mountain, God buried him Himself, and no one knew where Moses grave was.
And one last point, if you’re still with me, at the Transfiguration, Peter sees God talking with Moses and Elijah, both of whom we know went to Heaven. If we immediately go to Heaven upon death, why wasn’t David there, or Joshua, or Isaiah, or other faithful servants of God.
I don’t say this to discourage anyone, I just want people to explore the truth, and to do that, we have to forget what “The Church, Inc.” has been teaching us for centuries. And keep in mind, surely Satan has corrupted those teachings, trying to draw us away from God.
“Nuff said about that subject, I’m sure we’ll discuss it more in the future.
So ends the Torah. We have come a long way, thousands of years. From the story of Creation and Adam and Eve, through the Great Flood, through the lives of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to the great Exodus from slavery at the hand of the Egyptians, to now when we finally reach the point where the children of Israel, as God had promised to Abraham, are getting ready to take possession of the Promised Land, the land of milk and honey.
As always, I continue to pray for the truth, I continue to ask that the Holy Spirit be with me and teach me, and I urge you to do the same.
God bless.
