Psalm 9:
Verse 7 “But the Lord shall endure forever“.
Verse 9 “The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed,
A refuge in times of trouble.” – Do you turn to the Lord first when faced with trouble?
Verse 11 “The wicked shall be turned into hell”. – Hallelujah!!! Finally something I can smile about. As we will discuss in the future, and I’ve said this before, I don’t believe in an everlasting hell fire ruled by the devil where God sends the wicked. Here is the definition of “hell” according to the Hebrew word for “hell” or “sheol”.
In Hebrew, the term often translated as “Hell” is “Sheol,” which refers to the underworld or the realm of the dead. It is described as a place of darkness where both the righteous and the unrighteous go after death, rather than a place of eternal punishment as commonly understood in modern contexts.
Psalms 11-14:
We know from scripture that David had to defend himself almost constantly from the threat of Saul. Saul was King, and everyone followed the king; even David himself was faithful to the king. Virtually all of Israel was against David, he first fled alone, then was joined by his family, and eventually others took David’s side. Most didn’t know Saul was going mad, I’m sure they kept it hidden well.
So many of these psalms that were written by David are prayers to God, praying for relief from the constant attacks. And that shows the faithfulness of David…there is no scripture where David turned to his father or brothers for help, he turned to God.
