Verse 1 “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven” – Please do not misunderstand…what I’m about to say in no way lowers or diminishes the throne of Jesus, but…

I’ve only attended one church in my life, and to be honest, I didn’t pay much attention. But I’ve watched a lot of online sermons of the same denomination, and while they recognize Jesus as our Savior and Messiah (and I as well), I’ve never came across this subject before. David, in this verse, plainly indicates there is forgiveness. David’s time was before Jesus came to earth as a man and died on the cross, so this tell you plainly that forgiveness can be received from God Himself.

The only reason I say this is because far too many still believe that God is angry and wrathful, and that our sins would not be forgiven if it was not for Jesus. And by the way, the Grace of Jesus was not a license to continue in sin. Jesus was with God at creation, Jesus was God according to the Gospel John, but I don’t know if David knew this at the time. So just to be clear, God still isn’t the angry tyrant everyone believes Him to be; God is just as merciful and forgiving as Jesus.

And that also brings to mind, most religions believe in the Holy Trinity, but somehow they think God and Jesus have two different characteristics; and they don’t, “If you’ve seen Me, you’ve seen the Father.” (Don’t forget that!)

Verse 6 “For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You” – Never cease praying! God forgives through confession and prayer!

Gen. 4:6-7

NKJV – “So the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well , will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.

Hebrew – “And the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you annoyed, and why has your countenance fallen? Is it not so that if you improve , it will be
forgiven you? If you do not improve, however, at the entrance, sin is lying, and to you is its longing, but you can rule over it.”

I know these differences may seem minor to most. But for a long time, when I read the Bible, I couldn’t understand what the problem with Cain’s offering was. It wasn’t until somewhere, someone told me that God expected an animal offering rather than a grain offering.

But the Hebrew version, where God says that “if you improve it will be forgiven” has so much more meaning to me. It is saying that I may ended up sinning, but if I repent and improve my obedience and behavior, God will forgive me. That is a much more impactful statement to me.

I know the King James Version was interpreted by 47 literary scholars, but I’m not sure their interpretation came directly from the Hebrew Bible. Parts of it came from the Hebrew Bible, some from the Greek language, but they also used Tyndale’s Bible and the Bishops’ Bible. And that is why I am interested in reading the OT from the original Hebrew language, interpreted directly by the Jews.

Of course, my life experiences have made me very cynical, and knowing that no one is truly objective, and that it is hard to trust any interpretation unless you are skilled at the Hebrew language, I have to assume those translations are exact. And I pray that God would not allow some false prophet to change His word.
