I in now way mean to diminish the worth of the following psalms, each one is worthy because they are included in God’s Word, however these short psalms are prayers and pleas to God, praise to God, and more descriptions of the character of God, the latter of which I feel is the most important. That said, there’s not too much to commend on some of these.

Psalm 120 is titled “Plea for Relief from Bitter Souls”, and it is a short one. Just a note, Meshech was a town in the country of what is now known as Turkey.

Psalm 126 contains the word “sheaves” which is a bundle of grain stalks, and in this case, refers to the celebration of a bountiful harvest one has worked hard for. Now there is a popular church hymn titled “Bringing in the Sheaves”, so I had to search for the meaning of the lyrics, and A.I. informed me this; “In the hymn “Bringing in the Sheaves,” the phrase refers to the idea of gathering people who have accepted the Gospel, symbolizing the joy of bringing them to God, much like harvesting crops. It emphasizes the importance of sowing kindness and faith, with the promise of a joyful harvest in the future.”

And once again, another one from Tennessee Ernie Ford.
