Well, my last blog title was 1 Kings 1-2, and I got so wordy, I didn’t have room to cover it, so we’ll do it today. All of these books are documenting the events surrounding the death of David and the transition of the King of Israel to his son Solomon.

Previously we had read where God didn’t want David to build the temple because of the blood he had shed, and the construction was going to be left to King Solomon. But David still began preparing by accumulating materials to be used in the build and getting the office and military officials in order so everything was ready to go when Solomon was annointed.

And remember, the Book of Chronicles was basically a recap or review of the events of the Kings of Israel, so you will see a lot of identical text.

And in these books, we read David’s last psalm, we read about his death, then we begin to learn about the rein of Solomon. And the culture is still not good. I have to believe that God was just as frustrated back then as He is today. Our poor, poor God. Everyone talks about His anger and wrath, how He is frothing at the bit to swoop down and execute the wicked, when in fact, He has to contend with everything we do as sinners. God has to have great joy as he watches new children being born and lives turned over to Jesus, but at the same time, He is probably quite saddened to see just how wicked His people are.

And in Psalm 72, we see a psalm from Solomon as he begins his reign as King of Israel. One verse in particular sticks out at me, Verse 11. “Yes, all kings shall fall down before Him;
All nations shall serve Him.” I know every religion thinks they are the true religion, Buddists, Muslims, Christians, Jews, Church of Scientology and others, but from the evidence I’ve seen, I believe Christianity is the true religion, and that Salvation comes from Jesus Christ. And as Solomon says, “every nation will bow…every king shall bow”. Now whether that is now or at the end of time when they realize that Christ is the “truth, the light, and the way” is to be seen.

Now, I’m going to open a can of worms here, because not every Christian faith follows the Torah. On one side of the mouth they say they believe in the Holy Trinity, yet on the other side of their mouth, they believe Christ’s death on the cross was grace for all sin and that the Torah no longer matters. Another issue I have is that a “Christian”, as I define it, is “someone who follows Christ”. Well, Christ was a Jew, and I assume the term Christian encompasses those Jews who followed Christ, along with the Gentiles who were not of Jewish heritage. Then again, I consider a difference between the Jewish heritage and the Jewish faith. You can be a gentile, and still follow the Jewish faith. Since Christ Himself was a Jew, who followed the Torah, I believe Christians should at least be a “spiritual Jew”, and follow the Torah regardless of denomination, but that is not how “the church” operates. I am a non-denominational Christian, a follower of Christ, and as such, I am a spiritual Jew that follows the Torah. You may not agree, but that is what my beliefs have evolved to. If you’re a Christian, you follow Christ, and you should mimic His worship behaviors and traditions. To not follow Jewish traditions, yet still claim to follow Christ, doesn’t correlate with me. Keep in mind, there are Orthodox Jews that, as I understand it, believe that Christ was a man, but not the Messiah, and there are Messianic Jews who believe Christ is the Messiah and who follow Him.

OK, I’ve rambled enough. Just know that I believe any denomination that follows Christ’s teachings will do okay. And one more thing (I guess I wasn’t done rambling), if you believe in the Holy Trinity, God is Christ and Christ is God, so how can you say God’s rules no longer apply because Jesus changed them. There is plenty of scripture that tells you that God is unchanging; He is perfect.

Now I’m done rambling.

Have a Happy Sabbath and God’s blessings to you!
