“But he who is perverse in his ways despises Him.”
I don’t believe the word “perverse” in this case applies to the “perversity” we think of today; I believe it refers to anyone who does not follow God’s law, in other words, a sinner. And today, I see a lot of people who not only despise God, they refuse to accept He is present.
I don’t know this for a fact, but one can assume that in days past, most people believed in God. There have always been wicked people through the years, so there was never a time when everyone was Godly. But as we get nearer to the return of Christ, Satan is working harder to draw as many people away as he can. Just like the third of the angels he was able to tempt and turn against God, he is doing the same thing on this earth, trying to draw as many people to his side as possible. And Satan knows the Bible better than I do, he twisted scripture in an attempt to make Jesus sin, but it didn’t work. We don’t have the strength of Jesus though.
I believe Satan used Charles Darwin to develop his “theory of evolution” that suggests we evolved mysteriously from some kind of organism, and that there was no Creator. Satan used our educational system to teach this “theory of evolution” to our children. And even Satan uses the church to spread false teaching of the Bible to those who listen. Don’t get me wrong, most church going are good and decent people who listen to their pastor, believe what he says, then try to live their lives as taught. But they don’t read the Bible. They don’t question the teachings.
And unfortunately, there are many pastors who know the truth, but for some reason refuse to accept it; maybe because it is what they were taught.
Today, there are non-believers who claim that God doesn’t exist. There are people who aren’t convinced of God’s existence, so they continue living the lives they want rather than the lives God wants us to live. I follow many Christian FB pages, and there is always an abundance of people who use the laugh emoji, I assume scoffing at the message.
There are people who aren’t content with their non-belief, and are unknowingly being tempted by Satan to make satire out of God. My Heavenly Father has been called “sky daddy”, the Bible has been referred to a “fairy tale”, and comments as derogatory as you can imagine are said.
And lastly, there are those who believe in God, but they despise Him. They believe His laws and rules make them “slaves”. They blame the bad things in their life on God. As I’ve said before, every time there is a natural or manmade disaster, commenters are always asking, “Where was God? Why did He let this happen?” And they actually despise Him, thinking He was the one that caused the pain.
God does not hurt anyone. Satan does. Every thing bad that happens in this world is caused by Satan, because he knows people will blame God, and that is what he wants. But here’s the question I always ask. “Where were you?” For those blaming God for allowing bad things to happen, when was the last time you prayed? When was the last time you read the Bible? When was the last time you had a conversation with God, or worshiped Him?
Our life evolves around God, and if we stay close to Him, our lives will be a lot better than without Him. If we separate ourselves from Him, we are separating ourselves from life. There are many times throughout the Bible when the children of Israel were good and faithful, and God protected them. But there are more times when they were perverted and sinful, and God removed His “hedge of protection”. God even warned them of consequences. Through the prophets, God told them that if they did not turn from their sinful ways, He would remove His protection and allow them to fall to the enemy. They were slaves in Egypt. They were captured by the Babylonians on more than one occasion.
To make it simple, I compare God’s relationship with us to the relationship our earthly parents have with us. You can tell a toddler not to touch the hot stove time after time, but as toddlers are, they are rebellious, they test the water. And sometimes the parent just has to let them find out for themselves. And I believe God is the same. He tells us not to sin. He shows us what love is. He sacrificed His only Son to show us how to live, to exemplify the Commands in real life. He constantly talks to us, leading us down the right path. But unfortunately, many of us do not listen, just like the toddler, and God has to let us find out for ourselves.
Don’t be perverse. Don’t despise God. He is our source of life, and if we remain faithful to Him, we will have an everlasting life.
This is why we can’t go over every verse in the Book of Proverbs. It’s because I have a big mouth. I just wrote on this based on once sentence.
